Guyanese Named Woman of the Year By Essex County College

Essex County College’s women’s track and cross country athlete Andrea Foster and Guyanese born recognized with prestigious award.

She is this year’s recipient of the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award.

The award was part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Seton Hall University. Honorees are chosen by their institution’s athletics department based upon athletic excellence, academic success and citizenship/community service. More than 150 high-school and junior and senior college student-athletes earned the award in 2018.

Since arriving at Essex County College, the second year runner has garnered the following honors: NJCAA Region 19 Cross County Runner of the Year, NJCAA All-American, Region 19 All-Academic Team,and NJCAA Academic All-American. At the awards luncheon, Foster was joined by Head Coach DeShaun Craig, Athletic Department Administrative Assistant Adrianne Morse, and Director of Athletics – Michael Doughtie.
