Trini in New York Opens His Home to Trinidadians Affected By Recent Flood

School teacher Ricardo Babulal went to the United States 12 years ago, but his heart remained with his friends and family in Debe.

Babulal, who now lives in New York City, said he was saddened by the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Bret and he wants to help.

So he has offered flood victims temporary accommodation at his home in Debe.

Babulal said he owns an unoccupied two-bedroom house at Wellington Road, Debe.

He told the Express, “I noticed that a lot of people have become displaced due to the result of the storm, and also the lack of intervention by those in Government.”

Babulal said although he no longer lives in Trinidad, he wanted to reach out to those persons who were affected.

He said,

“I saw a lot of people in crisis and realised that by offering my home in Trinidad may be a way of helping those in need”

Babulal asked that interested persons contact him via email at Ricardo.babulal@yahoo.com or on Facebook (Cardo A. Basdeo).

Several families were displaced in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Bret, as roofs were blown off and flood entered their homes.
